Named “Classic Radio-Canada Revelation” in 2017-2018, Caroline Gélinas is acclaimed for her deep musicality and the accuracy of her stage presence. She studied at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal before joining the Atelier Lyrique of the Opéra de Montréal.. Caroline is a native of the vast Abitibi-Témiscamingue region in Northern Québec. Surrounded by nature, this is where she discovered her passion for music at a very young age.
Recently, she was making her debut at the Daegu Opera, in South Korea, as Lola, Rustic Cavalry. On stage, she played the title role in Carmen (Atelier Lyrique of the Opéra de Montréal – Longueuil Symphony Orchestra) ; Nada in Svadba by Canadian composer of Serbian origin Ana Sokolović, The drag carrier in Elektra, and Sister Jeanne in the Dialogue des Carmélites (Montreal Opera) ; She held the role of Mercedes in Carmen and Flora de La Traviata (Opéra de Québec) ; as well as that of Siebel in Faust, and Nicklausse in The Tales of Hoffmann (Lyric Art Society of the Kingdom, Chicoutimi Canada). Dorabella, from the opera Così fan tutte, is also a role that she has played on more than one occasion (Highlands Opera Studio et Centre for Opera Studies in Italy) ; Always at the same Center in Italy, she embodied Ottone in The Coronation of Poppea. As a soloist, she was notably invited to sing in Berlioz’s Les Nuits d’été with the Orchester Symphonique de Montréal ; Mozart's Mass in C Minor with the Montreal Philharmonic Society Orchestra ; Rachmaninov's Vespers with the Orchester Métropolitain choir; Mass in Buenos Aires (Misatango) by Martin Palmieri with the Choir of the Musée d’arts de Joliette and the classical choir of Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Lemessied Haendelet The Magnat of Imant Raminsh with the Choir Society of St-Lambert; Pulcinella (Ballet) from Stravinsky with the Laval Symphony Orchestra.
In 2018, she recorded her very first album Confidences (ATMA Classique) alongside pianist Olivier Godin. From, she has been invited to perform in recital on numerous occasions. His Romanze program, which she performs with pianist Martin Dubé, has also been nominated for the Prix Opus in the category “Concert of the year – Quebec”.
In 2019, the mezzo-soprano won 1st prize at the International Competition for French Melodies at the Festival Classica (Canada). She also won the Center Français de Promotion Lyrique scholarship and the Jeune Talent Lyrique Québécois – LOJIQ scholarship at the Gala des Jeunes Ambassadeurs Lyriques in Montreal.. In 2022-2023, She is invited to sing during various concerts at the Staatstheater in Nürnberg and Meiningen in Germany, At the Opera Angers-Nantes in France and deserved the opera of San Miguel Prize for an Outstanding Artistic Potential at the San Miguel Opera in Mexico.
In 2023-2024, She did a tour with the Abitibi-Témiscamingue symphonic orchestra for the creation of the cycle The songs of my speeches composé par Jacques Marchand et dont le concert a été mis en nomination aux Prix Opus dans la catégorie « Concert de l’année – Impulsions anciennes, classic, romantic, modern, postmodernes ».
